Two events NOT TO MISS this weekend

P3110013No one person could possibly hit all the events Whatcom County has to offer, and September may be the King of Months when it comes to quality events.

Two are happening this weekend that are high on the must-do list:

1) Ride 542 — the Mt. Baker Hill Climb — now called Festival 542. This started out as just a bike race from the town of Glacier to the parking lot at Mt. Baker Ski Resort. Now it’s a two-day event with a race for runners on Sunday. Just hanging out in that part of the county for a day or two is worth the trip up there, and if you’re not racing, volunteer to help out. You’ll get some cool schwag and a great spectator spot to watch the action. Here’s the website for more information: http://www.norkarecreation.com/hcindex.html

2) The “Swing Fore Miracles” golf tournament at Lake Padden Golf Club. This event is organized by Renay Daniels of RE/MAX Whatcom County, and benefits the Children’s Miracle Network and the Seattle Children’s Hospital. 36 young golfers all raised at least $250 to go toward the cause, and miracle survivor Jake Finkbonner is going to be on site as the “celebrity golfer.”  There are fun holes like the Hula Hole, and the Throw the Ball hole (instead of hit it!) There’s no website for the event, but click HERE to link to the Padden Golf Club’s website for directions.

Get out there and enjoy the beautiful weekend in Whatcom County!!!
