Hayden, Heather and I “unplugged” from the grid this past beautiful Thursday morning and visited Stoney Ridge Farm on the outskirts of Everson. What a TREAT!
Imagine an entire working farm producing pumpkins, Christmas trees, apples, corn and other produce, populated with critters large and small, and all of it designed to be 100% interactive for visitors — especially KIDS! And it’s 20 minutes from downtown Bellingham.
We paid a total of $4 admission for Heather and I– under 3 is free! — and spent a few hours feeding goats on an elevated walkway, running through the pumpkin patch and apple orchard, playing hide and seek in the Christmas trees, meeting a dozen or so different scarecrows, and shooting well over 200 photos throughout the adventure.
We took a tractor ride from one side of the farm to the other, explored the corn maze, checked out horses, goats, rabbits, pigs, ducks and roosters, and I can’t even remember what else. It was non-stop sensory overload for Hayden AND mama and papa.
Let me tell you, Hayden just LOVED IT!!! The colors of autumn fruits and veggies, not to mention the leaves, all backed by impossible blue skies and kids’ laughter coming from every direction was just the ticket.
Aside from the memories and the photos, we brought home a couple gallons of fresh apple cider and Hayden’s first pumpkin! Give yourself and your kids or grandkids a treat: unplug from the busy day to day and visit Stoney Ridge Farm. We loved it so much, it’s going to become a tradition for us.

Great pics! It was a great day to be out at Stoneyridge. We were there in the morning (must have just missed you) and felt the chill of an early Northeasterly-BRRRR!!!!
Lesson learned-Don’t let two kids pick out the biggest pumpkins they see when you already have a bag of apples, baby bag, camera, and no spouse present to help carry it all.
Hey Alex,
Bummer we missed you… that would’ve been fun and I could’ve helped you haul the giant pumpkins while the kids ran wild. We’ll have to team up next year. Let’s get together soon — I swear I’m going to wake up one of these days and Hayden’s going to be off to college! Take care…
